Well, by all means feel free to not show up.

I love how Auburn fans are always trashing Tuscaloosa yet they apparently can't find a better spot to hang out for the weekend. I recall students going out of town on road game weekends when I was a student at Alabama but it was either to follow the football team, go home, go to Bham or New Orleans, etc. We didn't go to Auburn to hang out on their campus during one of their home games because we didn't have anything better to do.

Tuscaloosa as a city is nothing special but it's a pretty cool college town to spend 4 or 5 years in school. Auburn is an OK city but I've never understood why other than blind homerism that they think Auburn in any better than Tuscaloosa. From my experience, Auburn is more convenient to Atlanta and has a few more good golf courses than Tuscaloosa. That's about the extent of its advantages. Tuscaloosa (even after the tornado) has more really good restaurants and bars than Auburn, at least as many nice neighborhoods, and a prettier campus.

At least when someone says they're going to the bar in Auburn, you know where they're talking about.

I graduated from a high school in Birmingham. Half of us went to Auburn and the other half went to Alabama. I remember A LOT of people making trips to both campuses during the school year to hang out. It was a common occurrence when I was at Auburn.

Exactly, Auburn is a nice little "town". The biggest thing there is the university, but it is the most boring place in the world except for one day a week. OK, maybe two days, because one other day people are involved getting the toilet paper out of the trees. There is nothing wrong with having a nice little town, but that doesn't give you the right to make fun of other people's home towns. Auburn bores the poop out of me, so I just don't go there, and if you hate Tuscaloosa so bad, you should do the same and stay the hell away.
