That'll be 15 yards, Les, and you have to put the needle back in your pocket...

Miles, a true comic genius, on the disallowed TD, from the Sunday edition of the Baton Rouge Advocate:
"What a great lesson for our guys. In a big game where 4 points is really important, we don't want to do that."

It also showed teams they will play in the future to make sure a spy is on the kicker.

Am I the only guy that doesn't think this was a fake punt?
Doesn't every punter in the league have the green light to take off if there isn't a defender within 30 yards of him?

one less man down to block on punts and we are already one of the best in the nation at covering them.

The point is that Les was taunting Florida with the comment about "big games"...

I agree with you, it was because the Florida coverage guys were bailing at the snap so it was wide open to take off.

This play will never happen again because nobody else will be stupid enough to put absolutely no rush on the punter when he's going to be sky kicking it.
There was going to be huge hangtime. The punt return formation should have not been on. Florida's ST had a mental lapse.

We haven't had a normal return on since yall faked it against us. We've had Jericho back the majority of the time. We'll be spying this for sure

Coach Miles said after the game that it wasn't a called play.

I'm sure. Also, Wing was probably looking hard on that one. I know, in '07, UA opened the game against UT with an on-side kick. They saw on film that the last guy on the front line of the receiving team was starting to run back before the kicker actually got to the ball. LSU probably saw that FL was cheating back on them and told him to watch out for it.

A spy wasn't the problem. There was no rush whatsoever on either punt. Clement saw it, and pointed it out to Wing. Wing then saw the green light and took off. It was never designed, and was great recognition by the members of our ST's. So to prepare for it is pointless unless you had planned not to rush our kicker.

Saban did the same thing against Auburn when Auburn was penalized 15 yards on the kickoff before the game even started.
They were flagged for stomping on the eye at midfield after their warm ups. I don't remember the year.

I've never seen so much wide open field on a punt return. That was insane.

Still not as crazy a punting situation as the one that happened in the Bears game.

That's what I heard too. I hope Clement reaches his potential. If he does, he's gonna be one of the all-time great Tiger TE's.

We did this play last year against another scrub team as well

Off topic, but I'm happy that we seem to be saying this alot about a whole lot of young players at virtually every position. Clement at TE, Wing at Punter, Freak on the D line, OBJ at WR, Magee at RB...and that's not even talking about all of the Sophmore starters that we have!

Les is the man. I am a die hard Bama fan but I love watching his interviews and you can just tell the reporters are always hoping he will drop a fantastic nugget for everyone to enjoy
