A bunch of us are making the trip up to Knoxville this weekend. Any advice from those who have been there on where to go and what to do as far as tailgating, bars, restaurants, etc..?

Hit Calhouns on the river. Check out the Vol Navy come in and eat some decent Bar-B-Q.... Walk up the hill and hang around the Gate 21 area for call in show and Vol walk.

We park off the strip behind walgreens Big green F250 with tents. We will be watching some early games and drinking a few cold ones. Look me up. I will give you a beer man.

Looking forward to this game. I don't have a clue how it is going to turn out. We could get blown out or we could win. Either way going to have a good time.

Take care

A few "must do" things I learned on my trip in 2006:

Calhouns
Enjoy the river & Vol Navy
Get there early enough to tailgate
Sit by people you know. The stadium should hold about 85K, but they just keep making the seats smaller. It will be tight. Also, it is steep. Don't fall in the upper deck. I asked an usher about it and he told me they have at least one person fall and roll every game. UT fans help UT fans, which means your arse will just roll and get laughed at. I saw it happen. It was funny.

A few "things to avoid" I learned on my trip in 2006:

Try to avoid kicking FGs when you have it 4th & goal from the 1. Might come back to bite you.
Try to have enough speed on D so that if you get a pick you dont' get caught by a slow QB (I'm looking at you Simeon Castille)
If you buy a cigar to smoke after a win, but don't win, then do NOT smoke the cigar. You'll be in traffic for a couple of hours and might be steaming from the loss. Chances are you won't be thinking clearly and you will inhale the entire cigar in about 15 minutes. This won't be good. Trust me...especially if you aren't a smoker any way (which I"m not).

Hope you find the advice helpful. Enjoy the game.

The best bars for you will be The Carousel or Rainbow Club West.

Have fun.

It's been a while back, but about the only thing I can remember to give you advice about is if you are in the McDonald's parking lot and some Tennessee fans hanging around a pickup truck offer you a swig from a milk jug filled with clear liquid...don't do it!
