Chizik is dispensable. Cam, Fairley, and Malzahn are not.

Without Chizik, we don't have Fairley, Cam, or Gus.

What has he done in relation to on the field performance? I've already said he has an eye for talent, and is smart enough to stay the hell out of the way...

Told Malzahn to go for it on 4th down during the Iron Bowl fwiw. He's not just standing there.

Correct, but that has nothing to do with being a Head Coach. We are talking about being a proven HC. Like I said, Chizik could have done all of those things from an AD position.

"Hey Gus, I dont ask for much. In fact I usually just shut the frick up and play with my dentures, but in this particular situation, can you do me this favor and just go for it? Thanks pal."

Fantastic. We are getting somewhere. He made an executive decision that related to a game.

Just my opinion but more so than people think on both sides of the ball.

Let's just face it - You, along with many other dumbasses on this board and in this state, will never give credit to Chizik for anything. He could win 4 NCs in a row and there would still be unwarrented criticism towards him. Everyone said he would fail when he was hired, and now everyone of you are trying to turn the tables on his successful tenure and make it out to be as if everything that has happened has had nothing to do with him being there.

Just stop.

That is all you can offer, and I appreciate you doing so.

Then does the performance of the D the last 3 years disappoint you, and do you think it is championship caliber going forward?

Should know more as the season goes on, but if the freshman learn there is a difference between practice and a game We might have something, but the talent is there.

I give Chiz all the credit in the world for being a fantastic general manager. He put the right coaches in the right places and got the frick out of the way. Something I wish to God Al Davis could figure out.

I just have to agree with NBama that he doesnt seem to have a lot of influence on the on-the-field performance past his influence on who's coaching them from an assistant standpoint.

It doens't.

Granted, if Chizik wins another NC, I will be more than happy to say he is one of the top coaches in the whole country, but after the Utah State showing along with his Post-Cam record and the Pre-Cam record as a HC I think it is safe to say I don't have to worry about admitting that anytime soon.

A performance that you are readily offering as a result of Chizik coaching, correct?

So, you are willing to say that even in the face of 3 years of disappointing D play, the talent will overcome any coaching issues?

Exactly. All talent needs is coaching. Chizik is a defensive coach. The defense has blown for three years. Use the transitive property.

We have not been a talented defense all three years

You better watch out for 2013, and possibly 2012.

If Dyer, and a lot more of the seniors stay for 2014, look out then...

Why should we wait until then? This will be Chizik's 4th class of recruits shouldn't he have had the talent he needs by now? Btw, I appreciate your attempt to deflect to a completely different subject.
