Try to move him up on that list. You can't. Take away Cam Newton and no way AU wins 10 games last year. Take away CGC and replace him with an average head coach and AU still wins the NC last season. Similarly, take away Malzahn and AU does not win a NC with CGC as head coach, but leave Malzahn and replace Chizik with an average head coach and you still win the NC.

Take away Chizik and the entire list is not at AU

It would be nice if you repsonded with a counter-point instead of just cursing and laughing. Makes you look like you have no idea what you are talking about.

I'm interested to see how would you rate the players and coaches from last years team in terms of importance?

You posted that curtis luper and Gus Malzahn recruited Cam Newton to come to Auburn... How did these coaches end up at Auburn in the first place?

Is this really an argument? You can't take them off the team. AU had Cam they have Chiz they had Fairley they have Gus and they have the frickING crystal ball. fricking accept it and move on. Bitching about it every fricking chance you get isn't going to change it.

There is a picture of a guy named Larry Coker holding one of those. Can you tell me what he did coaching wise to find himself in the position of hoisting that? Maybe something that he is doing again this year?

And who brought Chizik to AU?

And who put Jacobs in that position?

I'll agree with this. However, this all I have seen CGC contribute to the program. From the outside it looks as if he is very stand-off once he gets his peices in place. But my point is, why is he important now? In all seriousness, you could promote Malzahn to HC and the program would not miss a beat. Chizik was a great coordinator, but for some reason refuses to take over play calling duties for a defense that has been terrible during his tenure. He might as well have been the AD for the past few seasons instead of the head coach.

Too soon to tell if Chizik is Coker, I don't think Coker brang in as much talent as Chizik is now after his national championship.

So by this rationale, Bobby Lowder is the guy that put all those people on that team....

take away the best player on each of the last national champion winners and see how good they would have been.

without ingram, alabama isnt there
without tebow, florida isnt there
lsu 07 is an exception, but they lost 2 games
without tebow, florida isnt there
without v young, texas isnt there
without reggie bush, usc isnt there

youre such a fricking idiot

But in all those cases, could you really say that...

without Saban, alabama isnt there
without Meyers, florida isnt there
lsu 07 is an exception, but they lost 2 games (still valid argument lol)
without Meyers, florida isnt there
without M Brown, texas isnt there
without Carrol, usc isnt there

Those coaches in that list were paramount to those championships.

Chiz wasnt imo.

Who is recruiting at a high level? Is Chizik out on the road a ton? Look, I have no problem whatsoever with AU fans saying the guy is an "executive" style coach. He brought in people and lets them do their job. Fantastic. But to post pictures of him with a crystal football as proof of him being a good coach...that is just intellectually dishonest.

So he could win 3 more in the next couple years, and still be an ok coach?

I am not arguing this fact just to say that AU would not have won a NC. That is not the point. The point is to see who was most important in doing so. For instance: Take away Jim McElwain for Alabama in 2009 and they probably still win the NC with an average OC. This exercise is identical to WAR in baseball. However, take away either Mark Ingram or Saban and it's not even close. The point that is shown is that Chizik is dispensable. Cam, Fairley, and Malzahn are not.

Without Chizik, we wouldn't have a NC right now. Period.

He's done everything right, except fire Ted Roof.

That's my point. He has not proven he can be a HC. He looks the part of a fantastic AD though.
