Are you kidding me?
Pel couldn't win the sec with an nba allstar team. The guy is the worst floor coach ever.
I admit he didn't really get enough time, but he hadn't shown any potential for success at all.
Arkansas should be a bigtime bball school, and Long had to upgrade when the opportunity presented itself.
As for rotnee, he couldn't get along with his teammates, threatened to leave ever year, and was said to be a cancer in the lockerroom. He also couldn't play defense or create his own shot.
He apparently quit because he couldn't live with a black coach. And then did everything he could to make Arkansas look bad publicly.
Frick rotnee clark. Go back to oklahoma.

It took Pel 5 years at South Al until he really started winning big and I think he would have done the same at Arkansas eventually, especially the way he was recruiting, but admins in the SEC don't have the patience of those in smaller conferences, understandably so.

quote:
I admit he didn't really get enough time,
*4 years as head coach
*First year was by far his best, then downhill
*Worst conference season EVER in Arkansas history under his watch
*Couldn't break 20 wins in his final, 20-season-win-guaranteed giftwrapped season
*Ridiculous attrition rate, leaving us with APR problems
he definitely had enough time. he just used it to prove he wasn't a good coach.
