I thought that would be obvious. There was a shitstorm taking place or about to take place at OSU regarding autographs. They just saw AJ Green go down for an autograph/jersey related offense the previous season. It was a preemptive action.

So basically they saw tOSU get hammered for the same thing their players were doing so you call that being preemptive? I call it scrambling to cover your arse

Asked why some UA players may have frequented the store, McElroy said: "Tom can always see from his store into the mall, he can see people as they walk by because of where his counter is located, so I'm sure he calls out. ... They go in there because they're walking through the mall. You go into shops. You look around. There is nothing corrupt about it."

So he calls them to come into his store and come in his office and hang out ? That's a little weak of an explanation especially when there's pics of Julio having a girl sitting in his lap in the office with Tom. Or he guys can you come in here and sign this stuff for me. Oh and how can i forgot hey Trent do you wanna go out to dinner with me tonight.

Better that than having an investigation a year and a half later and having the NCAA down your arse.

No. You're just being obtuse.

Image is everything and perception is truth. At the time the letter was sent there was a lot of focus on signed jersies. Al Betar was displaying signed jerseys in his store window. In order to head off any potential problems he was disassociated. If you read the letter you will see that in no way did they say he had done anything wrong, but because of potential problems that could result in temporary suspensions and wasted resources it was best to just go ahead and sever ties at this time.

The University was never worried about any wrongdoing. They were worried about having to sit half the team while they waited on the NCAA to clear them.

So you think disassociating from the dude AFTER the fact prevents a NCAA investigation?

Tom bringing his family over to hang out at Mark Ingram's apartment in a night that he described as "one of his best ever" doesn't exactly help either.

Why was the first comments they said they had not contacted the SEC, and now they claim they did? Did they just do this on Monday?

quote:

The Alabama compliance office is monitoring the situation. The NCAA and SEC have not been engaged, the source said, because there is not believed to be an eligibility issue.

Again, Bama disassociated themselves from dude after the fact, that wont prevent any eligibility questions.

At McElroy claiming football players would just be walking in the mall and the store owner would call their name and that would be the only reason the players was spending so much time there

Probably because his dad admitted to wrongdoing, and former players have admitted to wrongdoing.

An inability to acknowledge a thoughtful decision by a rival shows your shortsightedness. If you honestly think Alabama should have kept up a relationship with someone who, while, nothing appeared to be wrong in their compliance investigation, casts suspicious light on a program, you are nothing but a shortsighted flaming troll.

Serious question, didn't Bama originally say they didn't contact SEC, now they're saying they did?
