No its Beachum. There are rumblings that he might be headed to juco because of grades.

I doubt that is what they are talking about on rivals because I think that would have spread to wildfire on every message board by now.

I heard Big Tex was in the doghouse because he has not lost weight. I got this info from one of the rivals writers. He did not mention anyything about grades.

Cook will be fine if necessary. He held his own in the spring. In the UA all-american game he did well against the Clowney kid heading to USCe

That's good to hear. I would like to see Cook's highlights for that game...

Nice write-up on Cook from his Under Armor All American game profile:

quote:

Cook is a big, strong, wide body player with excellent balance, agility and playing strength; is a dominant force as a run and pass blocker. Possesses the size and athleticism for the offensive tackle position at the major level of competition. Displays good flexibility and explosion coming out of a two point stance; is able to get a good fit and pad level despite his height and the fact he works from a two point stance.

His initial quickness and technique allow him to get movement off the line of scrimmage when drive blocking; can shock a defender and establish immediate movement off the line; able to roll his hips with good base and leg drive. This guy is an aggressive, tough finisher, one who plays to the whistle while looking for a second block downfield.

Demonstrates the foot quickness to gain leverage vs. shaded down lineman; plays on his feet well in space with the capability of getting a hat on 2nd level defenders. We see a player with advanced techniques in pass protection; his flexibility and balance serve him well; displays good bend, can slide and play flat footed. Has a good feel for the deep set point vs. quick edge rushers.

His arm length and hand quickness are a plus; demonstrates good initial punch and location; works to keep his body clean with good extension while working to reset, getting his hands back inside the frame. His athleticism, playing strength and finishing attitude strongly indicate a player capable of making all the necessary blocks at the next level of play. If not an immediate starter, Cook could very well see early playing time as his collegiate career begins.

This makes me a little more confident...

I think Cook can runblock, maybe even be a dominant runblocker. The question is passblocking.
BP will just fake the pass and run up the middle.

Cook will be fine pass blocking and so will Smothers for that matter. If their is one thing they do well in the Springdale system, it's learn to pass block.

My biggest concern is how fast will Cook adjust to working out of a 3 point stance at the SEC level. He seems to have adjusted well so far, but he primarly worked out of a 2 point stance at Harber High.

I thought Cook got handled by our DE's in the two spring practices I saw. I think he'll be fine before the year is over and great in a year or two. Our DE's will make a lot of tackles look bad this year.

My only concern is the 'Bama game. Hopefully Cook/Peacock can get it done by then.
