The "best" Baseball Fans, or any other sport for that matter, should be viewed as a ratio (attendance to population) to gauge fan support. Obviously, there are many other factors involved but without spending too much time analyzing it here a look at the numbers between LSU and Arkansas and I suspect a few other SEC teams would fare equally as well.

The population surrounding Baton Rouge is more than three times what it is in NWA. If you look at game attendance as a ratio to potential attendees (within reasonable driving distance), the numbers really illustrate which program has a better fan following.

Population
Baton Rouge / New Orleans Estimated Population: 1.4 million.
NWA Estimated Population: 400,000.

2010 Average Attendance
LSU: 10,655
Arkansas: 7,704

Ratio
LSU: 1 to every 131 people
Arkansas: 1 to every 52 people

If Baum Stadium had the same population base to draw from as LSU does then the Hogs would average 26,923 per game or about 2.52 times what the Tigers do using the same game attendance to population ratio. Wow. That’s a huge difference and clearly illustrates Hog Fan fervor.

So by your logic if NW Arkansas had the population of NYC (8,175,133) they would average 157,214 fans per game for college baseball.

1. Your logic is a stretch and if you want to include the N.O. area in LSUs stats you would have to include every person living in Ark to reach the same number of universities represented the in same area.
2. You know there ain't shite else to do in Fayetteville. Don't lie, I've been there.

This is dumb for several reasons.

One must factor in that stadiums have a capacity and no SEC baseball stadium comes close to 26K or ever would.

Likewise, there are far fewer things going on in NWA than in BR. What else are they going to do?
