So after being in the thread for a short time last night and seeing and trying to read the 50+ pages, I felt we needed a thread, to just check-in and make sure you and your family are okay. With the actual conversation kept at a minimum. Or if you know any others on the board made it through unscathed, please let us know. This way we don’t need to filter through 50 + pages.

Also, if anybody needs any assistance, anything, please let someone know and don’t hesitate to ask. Maybe someone can help you check on a friend or family member more local to them and let you know at least their area is okay.

Flesh, I hope and pray your brother made it to your dad and all is well.

I have included a few links as well for any that may need assistance or want to help donate their time and or money.

RollTideMJ checking in.

My cable went out and couldn't find a radio yesterday about the time the tornado was hitting T-town. I had to switch to 3G network on my iphone and so the severe weather thread was my only way of knowing what was going on. I really want to thank everyone that were my eyes and ears and telling me what was going on. It was a scarey feeling not having any type of communication on where it was and where it was headed.

Thank you for the links to make a donation since it's probably all I can do from here.

I hope you are all safe and my thoughts and prayers to those who lost family members, friends, and homes.

I'll bet lots of our guys and gals are without power still this morning. Almost the entire county I live in is without it but I got lucky. Hope all are well.

Thanks man. They got the tree off him around midnight. Took him to the Piggy Wiggly parking lot and from there an ambulance got him to the hospital. Crushed hip and they're worried about lack of circulation as the tree was on him for 6+ hours. The expectations are that he'll be ok long term.

Have a cousin in Moody who got three elderly people out of a demolished home and waited with them until EMS got there. That was around 8pm. A cop who knows him told his wife he was going back to look for others. He hasn't been heard from since.

I sincerely appreciate all the prayers. I believe they made a difference.

ETA: Cousin is in the hospital. Sheriff is saying he helped save 16 people. Kid is a straight up hero.

We got hit with bad weather here in Knoxville. Strong winds, hail, and poured down rain. Was a frightening experience.

Prayers for the people who aren't so lucky.

As far as I know, all of Auburn/Opelika is safe. I don't think it even rained at my house, just a bunch of lightning.

I wouldn't give a dime to the "American Red Cross." They'll scam the hell out of you. Make sure it goes to the "Alabama Red Cross" chapter otherwise it goes into their national fund and is not used for Alabama. That's what happened after Katrina in Louisiana.

All OK in central GA. We obviously dodged a bullet. Those to the West of us were not so lucky. Prayers out to all the victims and families.

Just heard that some family of mine in Northwest GA had much of their property destroyed. They are all ok but they said it looked like a war zone outside.

I'm okay...nothing was lost that can't be replaced. Also, anyone on here that resides in the counties that have a dusk to dawn curfew..respect that please. LEO's are stretched thin and nerves will be frayed. A bag of ice isn't worth facing an overwhelmed 22 year old with a gun in the middle of the night. I just spoke with a party I know who is in a admin role & a couple of his young officers lost everything.

thanks for checking. I live in Vestavia Hills near the Bluff Park/Hoover area which was hit hard with storm damage. Unbeliveable the uprooted (and I mean HUGE trees). We lost power until 9 or so last night but evidently didn't get "internet" until this morning. Fortunately we just have some twigs and a stray shingle or two in the yard. A house a block away had a tree come through their front door.

I work in Hueytown. Now, "as the crow flies", its about three miles east of Concord and two miles south of Pleasant Grove. We have no power (which also means no phone at work),which in the big picture is no big whoop, but can't do anywork so I came home.

But Concord. Oh, my goodness. Went by there on the way home. Just awful. Roads are closed going over there but it got hit like a grenade. Rather small, rural area but 11 people were killed. For those familiar with the area Concord is only 5-6 miles from Oak Grove, site of the horrible April 1998 tornado.
