I still think Mallett should be #1 if you are taking a QB , which is the position every 2-14 team should look to draft when they don't have a legit QB and Carolina doesn't (and neither does #2 Denver, #3 Buffalo, #5 Arizona, #6 Cleveland, #7 San Fran, #8 Tennessee, #10 Washington, #12 Minnesota, #15 Miami, or #16 Jacksonville---all of which should be on the horn with Carolina for a chance at one of these three premium QB's.)

-Mallett has better size (6-6) than Gabbert (6-4)or Newton (6-5).
-Mallett has a better arm than Gabbert or Newton and one arguably stronger than anyone currently in the NFL.
-Mallett has produced better numbers in a tougher league (in just two years) than Gabbert did in 3 years in a weaker league. (Newton doesn't even qualify in the college passing numbers comparisons.)
-Mallett doesn't have any mobility, and last I looked, neither does Peyton Manning or Tom Brady. Ask Mike Vick, Vince Young, or Donovan McNabb how many championships their feet got them.
-Mallett is a threat to score from his own 20 in one play (see LSU-ARK with seconds before halftime). In the NFL, PI penalties are marked at the spot where the foul occurred. With Mallett's hail mary's, a team always has a chance to score or could get another chance with the ball placed close to the goal line if fouled.

The white-trash/meth rumors are just that rumors and that's mostly because of his thick-tongued/urban accent. He actually is grammatically correct, he just sounds like he should frick up every sentence because of his accent, but if you transcribe exactly what he says, he surprisingly is well-spoken. Only a failed drug test or unpublicized illegal incident could keep him from not being drafted early, if not #1 overall.

Plus, I'm biased. The dude gets props from me for publicly acknowledging in the paper that he laughed at the "Ridin' Dirty" video I made about him.
