The fact that we've improved on defense every year under Petrino, and we return 10 starters on defense.

7 returning starters, no big losses of the ones gone (a few of the "starters" that left were splitting time, e.g. Broadway at CB, Crim at S, and should be easily replaced)
Players now in the system for 4 full years
Good D-Line that looks to get better
Better depth than we've ever had on that side of the ball
Lots of redshirt players

there is reason to be optimistic. i'm not saying we'll be top of the SEC or even top-3, but i do expect improvement.
