But they still needed help. Why does it matter that the help was needed on the last weekend or not?

What difference does the particular weekend matter, chief? Are you saying that Florida would have been playing for the title if neither UT, USC, and possibly Boise St. hadn't lost a game?

Also, you haven't told us who was more deserving than LSU to play in 07...

So any team that has been the beneficiary of another team losing should automatically be disqualified? Thanks for clearing that up...
