Why would they not give out the numbers??? Seems very strange, what are they hiding?

LINK

Every Division I public school in this state provides us a copy of those reports. Only Alabama blacks out the scholarship numbers for every sport.

We know from the latest form that Alabama reported spending $3,041,356 on football scholarships for the 2009-10 academic year. We don't know how many players Alabama reported having on scholarship that year.

The News has asked Alabama several times to explain why it withholds information we believe is a public record. The heart of the explanation, from university spokesperson Deborah Lane: "Federal privacy laws prevent the University from providing the media with personally identifiable information related to its students."

Excuse me, but what? The NCAA form doesn't include the names of players on scholarship. Just the numbers. Besides, if Alabama considers it a potential privacy violation to release the number of football players on scholarship, why does the school announce the names of its signees every year?

Alabama's argument is inconsistent with its own practice.

A better question is why this hack thinks Nick Saban or the University of Alabam owes him, or anyone else, anything.

What I gather from that article:

Former Auburn beat writer basically admits that his oversigning articles has no factual numbers to base his claims on.

WTF? You know Bama doesn't have MORE scholarship players than is allowed. So, now you guys are giving up on the oversigning BS and are picking up the Bama-Doesn't-Have-Enough-Scholarship-Players mantra?

I dont think it is much about hiding anything as much as it is UA officials don't care for some folks in the media. So instead of thelling them to Ef-off, they just cite some BS rule so not to hurt anyones feelings.

Saban doesn't have to tell what he doesn't want you to know. I think he does this to get under your Aubie skin and piss you off...and this makes me very happy!

Seriously??? An Auburn fan wondering what Bama is hiding? That's rich. Greyshirting is legal in the SEC. Any coach that doesn't do it, is not taking advantage of the opprotunities that the rules allow. Medical redshirts and normal attrition will generally speaking, take care of the greyshirts. It's no coincidence that the best recruiting teams over the last 5 or 6 years(Bama &LSU) utilize the ability to greyshirt.

Dont you have enough on your own plate to worry about? What is the barn hiding? Why has your school not replied to the Bham news for the information they requested?
