I think the whole process has gotten out of hand. We're going to see more and more of this kind of weirdness in the future.

I'm starting to miss the days when recruiting was barely mentioned in the papers, and you never heard of 90% of the players on your favorite college team until they actually started showing up on the field during games.

I think the main "bad" part is the message boards, facebook, etc. I don't think simply having something like Scout/Rivals and ranking kids is that bad, but when random, creepy middle-aged fans are "friends" with these recruits, and hinging on their every move, it's just really odd.

I would say the craziest recruiting story in the last five years was Floyd Raven. I have never heard of anyone signing 2 lois (or mom signed one) this guy is a lunatic and I'm glad we don't have him.

One other weird ND one I forgot, not as weird as Lynch/Tuitt, but still funny. Ishaq Williams was down to ND and PSU. He was going to make a visit to PSU on January 15th. ND D-coordinator Bob Diaco found out, and hopped on a plane early that morning and landed and made an in-home visit at 4:30 a.m. Not only did Williams not go to his PSU visit, but he committed to ND on the spot (and was also enrolled in classes and in my dorm two days later ). What made it even better was all the PSU fans thought it was a mistake and false rumor, because he was in their student directory (because he applied early to both schools, and sent in the form that he'd enroll early to both schools, so he'd have the option of then choosing which one. So, technically, he was listed as a PSU student, and it caused the Nittany Lion fanbase to freak out ).

Half brothers Muhammad Fotchelaminga and Mortimer Spleenwax flip-flopped between Michigan and Rancho Cucomonga Community College.

How can it not be Floyd Raven? The guy's mom forged his damn signature and faxed it, even though he wanted to go somewhere else.

Floyd Raven. When your own mom lies on you like that there is some deep deep issues around the kid.

Floyd Raven appears to be the winner here.

But if Cyrus swaps to Bama that's gotta be a close second - not that others haven't changed their minds but for such a high-profile recruit to announce one school on NSD and then to change to its most hated of rivals is crazy.

Any of you Bammers/Barners ever recall something like this in the past?

Brent Calloway, and I don't think it's close. I will say Roberson is a distant second.
