How is MSU, coming off of a banner year, performing this poorly in recruiting. I know I am beating a dead horse, but is Mullen that bad of a recruiter that he cannot turn the program's momentum into at least a Top 25 recruiting class?

I have always heard UF insiders say that Meyer basically refused to let Mullen recruit because his personality is just fricking horrible.

1) not over yet
2) i think the recruits need to see more than one good season
3) after a repeat of last year, for state and ole miss, this will all change

I dont think it is as much Mullen as it is that our team is EXTREMELY young and return TONS of players next year. That along with competing for the same recruits with Alabama, Auburn, LSU, and Ole Miss.

State is a tough place to recruit to and we lack the facilities that the other SEC west schools have.

With that said, I think that we will be good next year, and with another 9 win season we will definitely have a better recruiting class in 2012 than this year.

no way to judge this right now. Let signing day happen first, then wait 3 years.

We just had a shitty decade of football- our worst since the awful 1960's. You will see our classes improve Star-wise after we win another 9-10 games in 2011.

But star numbers are over-rated once you get out of the top 10. Our classes have been constantly 10th-11th in the SEC, yet we finished 5th in the SEC in 2010 (we were better than SC). Rutgers has had higher recruiting classes- anybody want to take Rutgers to beat us right now? Every player in our backfield was a 2-star coming out- we finished 2nd in the SEC in rushing.

2007 and 2008- Mississippi's recruiting classes were 27th and 29th, ours was 39th and 44th- would you take their team over ours right now?

Rankings are overblown for schools outside the Top 10- its what you do with the ones you get and how they develop.
