now it is viewed as the most dominant conference, but I remember earlier in the decade when it was not such an obvious conclusion.

I would say up until Auburn beat Oregon there were many people who still didn't believe.

Everyone believes now.

No doubt that is where it became obvious to all but the most clueless.

you guys are only looking at one aspect of this. i would argue the recent events involving Auburn, Florida, Georgia, etc.. has stained the national perception of the SEC.

tOSU beating Arkansas probably changed it somewhat as well.

I realized it wasn't as dominant when LSU got beat by Penn State last year.

I would say when Florida dome-rocked Ohio State. When Michigan started going downhill, the Big 10 has lost luster. Furthermore, Notre Dame, Miami, and Florida State have virtually been irrelevant over the past 5 years. In the early 2000's, Florida State, Miami, Ohio State, Michigan, USC, and Oklahoma were consistently top 10 teams. SInce then, LSU, Florida, Auburn, and ALabama as of late have all come on strong to strengthen the SEC....

Notice I did not include Arkansas because they coouldn't take care of business vs. OSU and Georgia because they lost to Central Florida... What a joke

It was SEC or Big 10 earlier in the decade, but UF skull fricking Ohio State after tons of people had been crying for a Michigan-Ohio State rematch in the BCSNC really tipped the balance to the SEC.

Everyone started to notice the dominance after the '06 NC game. I don't see any teams beating an SEC team in the NC game any time soon. Yes, they may beat another team in the BCS from the SEC, but when it's the SEC's best v. the best of the rest, the edge goes to the SEC every time.

Who is Monroe? Also, what team has beat Arkansas 4 years in a row?

Bowl season 2006 definitely got the ball rolling. Of course UF throatfricked OSU and on top of that LSU beat the brakes off of ND in the Sugar. I can remember watching that game and thinking the SEC chant was going to blow the roof off the dome.

Where was the dominance against Oregon? At what point was the game winner decided?

Bowl season 2006

This. The SEC went 6-3 overall. It was also on the heels of the disrespect of LSU in 2003 and Auburn in 2004, so the SEC fans "circled the wagons" that year.
