I suspect that half the teams in the top ten in 1984 could have beat BYU. they only played 6-6 Michigan in the Holiday bowl.
Mich was not among the top 3 in their own conference.

Auburn won the SEC and beat the Pac 10 champ.

Aubie > BYU.

So.. aubie is #2, least respected champion. Aubie is recognized as superior on the field, which BYU was not.

Aubie is spat upon, for being the criminals they are.
That kind of DISRESPECT, will never clean up.
