Like anything else,you're gonna get different opinions.I live in Dothan,and have been since 1998.I love it.Why? As some mentioned,you can be on the beach in about 90 minutes in panama city,or,destin in 2 hours or so.Poplulation is about 68,000.There is a mall,but the biggest thing if you like to eat out,per capita,they have more restaurants than any other city.You can hop on the bypass and be where you need to be in minutes most of the time.Yes,montgomery is the next biggest city,but I lived there as a kid,and the crime rate is much worse.They have 2 major hospitals,tons of specialist,doctors,you name it. If you have any questions about anything,lemme know.Also,you're only minutes from the Georgia state line,as well as florida state line

Forgot about the hospitals, SE Alabama Medical Center and Flowers Hospital are absolutely first rate.
Lots of Army helicopters flying around too.
