2004 Auburn IMHO was a far more complete team.

Cadillac - Auburn's finest illiterate star!

2010 would beat 04. Newton and Fairley did whatever it took to win every game, no matter the opponent. If a 1 point win was what they needed, that is what they got.

2004 Auburn actually had significantly more talent than 2010 Auburn on OFFENSE. They had Cadillac Williams, Ronnie Brown, Jason Campbell, Ben Grubbs, Marcus McNeill and three future NFL WRs (Ben Obanamu, Devin Aroshmadu, and Courtney Taylor). They were absolutely loaded. Factor in a dominant defense and it's not even close. '04 Auburn was clearly the better team.

very debatable and not nearly as in favor of 04 as most of you seem to think. 10 played as more of a team and seemingly willed themselves to several wins.

Great question. 2004 was certainly a more complete team but I would take 2010 simply due to Nick Fairly and Cam Newton's ability to dominate games. It's hard to beat a team that has players that dominate the middle of the line like Fairly and can consistently convert 3rd and short like Cam enabled Auburn to do. 3rd down conversion rate is simply one of the most overlooked stats in football.

I had the same thought. USC was the real deal, but Auburn was, at the very least, the second best team in the nation. No way USC hangs 55 points on Auburns D, maybe 28. If Auburn wasn't shafted in 2004, we could be looking at the SEC winning the BCSNC for the last 7 out of the last 8 years.
