To be fair, I don't think PP7 was manned up with Cobi. He probably should have been.
Yeah that pass split zone coverage with Peterson playing the short zone and Karnell Hatcher over top.
Peterson was supposed to let Hamilton by him. Hatcher was supposed to be there sooner.
And, quite frankly, Hatcher was there soon enough. He wasn't there soon enough to stop the catch, but he was certainly there soon enough to push Hamilton out of bounds and hold him to like 12 yards.
But no...Hatcher goes for the knockout blow and Hamilton goes 80 yards.
Whoever thinks that one is on Peterson is a grade A moron.

Do you not remember him punching the ground in disgust?
LOL I remember it clearly, as I was sitting near that end zone and I have watched that replay a hundred times. PP7 did look a little silly trying to make that tackle, but so would most defensive backs if they tried to run down a track star who can cut on a dime.

He was the last guy that Cobi had to beat....he put a little juke on him and Peterson fell flat on his face in the endzone. Do you not remember him punching the ground in disgust?
Ah....you're talking about the play to end the half.
I mean...what can you say about that? Again, Hatcher was the one who screwed up, not PP.
Hamilton did make a great cut at about the 5 yard line to score. It was a good play.

I think PP's legend has grown to the point where if he doesn't make a play, even a play that wasn't his assignment, people will stand up and say "SEE, HE SUCKS!"
The reality is that nobody can be everywhere at once, and PP is still the best DB they've ever seen in their lifetimes, with Eric Berry being the ONLY other possibility there.

exactly.
granted his stats aren't amazing or anything ridiculous, but there's a reason for that: offenses don't dare throw to his side of the field.
and the games the WR does get a few catches against him, dumbass opposing fans, like bama, go nuts about how he sucks.
when the truth is, he was on an island in coverage against the WR and quite frankly watch closely, because the WR will get the catch and be taken down immediately. A corner is doing a great job when he holds the other teams best WR to little or no YAC.
but again most fans and people on this board are X and O's retarded.

yall are acting like hamilton shook pat out of his shoes. the guy who pat was originally covering was down there blocking him, it wasn't exactly that hard for hamilton to score at that point.

Not PP7's fault, but Hamilton's catch and run was amazing.

Pause @ :17, when Cobi just gets inside the 10. Patrick Peterson has the front corner of the endzone covered, and it seems as though the LSU player running with Cobi would be able to make the tackle if Cobi cuts back toward the middle. Cobi did cut back, PP7 slips trying to turn around quick enough, and even though it appeared he had an angle to begin with, the other LSU player doesn't even get a hand on him.

once again....when he get's drafted and the millions PP7 is about to make pretty much says it all.
he always said he wanted to be the highest corner ever taken in the draft, he's damn close on making that happen.

LSU secondary will be better in 2011 without Peterson.

...hard to argue that when the 3 picks were by freshman vs teh fAggies.

LSU secondary has plenty of talent. The future looks amazing.

yea, it sucks he's leaving, but like he said himself in the youtube video, we don't have to worry about our secondary next year.
Scary to think how much better Mathieu and Baker, etc are going to be next year and 2012.

I made a comment during the Cotton Bowl that Mathieu is a little undersized and slow compared to the recent string of LSU defensive backs and therefore not the caliber of defensive back LSU is used to having. As soon as I said that, he made some big plays and I looked like an idiot, but I still stand by the statement.
After Peterson and Claiborne, Mathieu seems scout team quality to me. Scout.com says he is 5'9 (undersized - check) and runs a 4.62 (little slow - check). scout.com lsu commits
I'd take him on my team in a heartbeat, our secondary needs all the help it can get. But I wouldn't want him one on one with with Joe Adams, Cobi Hamilton, Greg Childs, or Jarius Wright. If he's still starting for yall come November, he will get picked on once again.
