SEC for a long time. This is for opposing fan bases only. The list includes

Patterson TCU
Malzahn OC at Auburn
Pelini Nebraka
Smart DC at Bama
Peterson Boise
Mullen MSU
Strong Louisville
Jack Del Rio Jacksonville
Pinkel Missouri
Sarkisian Washington

If by top you mean alternating SEC titles with Alabama and Florida then the answer is any of the above. I think the best choice is Patterson.

Peterson.......occasionally win the West. LSU, nor anyone will be permanently entrenched at the top of the SEC for a long time.

If Miles leaves it will be very interesting to see who LSU can actually get. If I remember correctly Miles wasn't LSU's top choice. If truth be known he may not have been even in the top 3 or 4.

Not all coaches want to coach at a school where most of their Fans aren't happy unless they win their conference every year (see Florida's recent hire). That isn't going to happen at LSU, Bama, Florida, or any other SEC team because it's just too hard to repeat with so many top juniors leaving early for the NFL. The days of one team dominating the SEC year after year are over.

Doubt Patterson would leave with the shale stock he gets but Id love to have him.

Malzahn would be nice but Im worried about him not having HC experience.

Sarkisian would be nice as he runs a pro style offense and is very good at developing qb's.

Strong would do well but Id hope he would get a pro style OC in there as Im not very fond of the offense that Mullen and Florida ran.

Oh as as far as Pelini: NOT NO but HELL NO

I think ur screwed....who ever you get, will not matter, until their system is implemented. Can the corndogs have patience til then. With Bama being a heavy contender year in and year out.And now the barn on the rise as well as Arky.Plus not to mention State makin a push. Can Lsu handle being 3 or 4 til a new coach gets his style going..?That is the real question. It is not like your inheriting a national championship team or top recruiting classes like before..It may be a good team now but you guys don't have talent on top of talent as before.

Mullen definitely! Could you imagine what an added nightmare it would be to go to Death Valley to play a team led by Mullen. He would have the fans whooped into a lynching frenzy before the team ever came out on the field. Petterson isn't going anywhere. Unfortunatly his son has cancer and has been treated in Utah and family is very happy with his care and progress. He wouldn't jeopardize that for anything, which says a lot about the man.

This conference is too damn competitive for any team to be at the top of the SEC for a long time
