Normally its a dumbass that DOESN'T jump on the ball and tries to pick it up for the touchdown that ruins a game for a team. This kid had good instincts of what you should normally do... but cost rky a BCS win.

But it was a blocked punt, not a normal play. There is no risk because even if he missed on the recovery and Ohio State fell on it, it still would have been Arkansas ball.

well the difference here is that its a 4th down so even if OSU recovers it, they would still have to run all the way back to the first down marker to keep from giving the ball back to Arky. Thats a situation where the kid will be more aware of the circumstances as he gets older and more experience.
