Really? Wow... Wonder why they just decided to not even have a A.D. then?

No A.D. or Ath Dept... doesnt sound like the university is out to have a winning program at any cost. Seems the normal cost of just having a A.D. wouldnt be a big deal then...

The no AD thing was actually one of the biggest lures for Gus at Vandy. He's spent time at Arky and Auburn, two programs notorious for coaches having to deal with meddlesome boosters and oversseers. He knows that at other programs, in between recruiting, coaching and gameplanning, he would have to be doing a lot of tapdancing for administators, boosters, etc. To say nothing of unrealistic fans.

There's a reason coaches bounce around so much and demand these ridiculous contracts. There's a reason Jimmy Sexton spins his webs this time every year.

I'm not saying Vandy abolished the athletic department for this reason, but they can honestly go to candidates and say, we will give you total control of football operations, with no interference and at least a five year grace period to prove that you can win here. It's your show...completely.

Very few BCS programs can offer that. It's an attractive lure to these Type A personality coaches who think they can always win "as long as..."

I am thinking he has been told to wait for the Auburn HC job to come open in a couple of years...works for all. He does not have to move and nobody gets to track a flight # during the middle of the season. Everybody wins.

Just kidding
