I see Malzahn as being very patient. I'm guessing, but I see him as one who would prefer to coach in the SEC. I think timing has a lot to do with it and this wasn't the right time to make that move.

Of course he wants to stay in SEC, he won't be able to do shite without SEC caliber players. He better leave after this season though, bc his stock goes down dramatically if he sticks around AU when Cam leaves.
