question: Why are people (non-AU fans) so upset that Malzhan is staying put?

I'm pretty new to the politicking of football.. so help a girl out :)

They don't want AU to have to suffer through another year with a gimmicky, high school offense that can't work in the SEC.

I just hate him being in the SEC, we have to play against his O.

ETA: Plus he recruits Arkansas very well.

When Scam Newton leaves after this season, AU will be fourth in the West and Gus will rue the day he turned down 3MM... even if it was Vandy.

Probably hoping Petrino would have left for UF so he could go back to Arky.

If he is willing to pass up an exorbitant amount of money at Vanderbilt to remain an OC at Auburn, he must have a certain job in mind. Which job is it?

A job with at least a 50/50 chance of being succesful. Which Vandy isnt.

I dont blame him. Vandy would be the end of his career.

GM is a smart 45 yr. old competitor...he will wait for a job with an opportunity to dominate (Texas Tech, UCLA, Oregon State, LSU). He will be at AU at least 2 more years...his offense will stay respectable/good and then he will take the jump.

I, for one, could care less if he stays. He is a great on field coach with a good scheme, but I believe UA will do better than most at containing his offense. It will be fun over the next few years. RTR.

If he's at AU next year, he's gonna regret it. No Scam and no O-line. If I'm in your backfield, his misdirection O doesn't work.

he will not be as good but the guy has been good without cam before...everyone needs to realize that this guy is to offense in 2010 what SOS was to offense in 1991...just because I am a huge UA fan does not mean I cannot recognize greatness when I see it

I have to question this. Vandy should be in as good, if not flat out better financial position than anyone else in the SEC to spend their way to the top. Vandy grads typically do well financially, so they should get alum donations, and the Vandy endowment is worth what? Around $2 or so BILLION??? Then there is the SEC money that they share in. I think it just really comes down to a question of commitment.

Really? Wow... Wonder why they just decided to not even have a A.D. then?

No A.D. or Ath Dept... doesnt sound like the university is out to have a winning program at any cost. Seems the normal cost of just having a A.D. wouldnt be a big deal then...
