It's pretty rare to have a coach hit the ground running. Meyer is one of the few coaches I've ever seen do that in recent memory.
If you take a list of the top coaches and their performances in their first year, this is what you get:
Nick Saban [LSU]: 8-4
Nick Saban [Bama]: 6-6
Bob Stoops [OU]: 7-5
Pete Carroll [USC]: 6-6
Jim Tressel [OSU]: 7-5
Urban Meyer: [UF]: 9-3
Bobby Petrino: [Ark]: 5-7

Les Miles [LSU]: 11-2
Steve Spurrier [UF]: 9-2
Mack Brown [UT]: 9-3
Mack Brown [UNC]: 1-10
Chip Kelly [UO]: 10-3
Jim Harbaugh [Stanford]: 4-7
Frank Beamer [VaTech]: 2-9

Really tough schedule in conference next year, FSU is better, It could be a rough first year.
But the coach has a fertile foundation on which to build. A really good coach could honestly come in to Florida and win 10 or 11 games with the talent Florida has gotten from the last few recruiting classes.
