You guys think that the unbelievable talent on the roster would thrive in any system or are they more "system type guys"? Ya think UF is in for a couple more rebuilding years if they don't hire a "spread guy"?

Depends what kind of coach they get and how flexible he is. One of the things that made Meyer so good was the fact that he could adapt his system to fit the talent. That 2006 coaching job has got to be one of the best jobs of putting together a patchwork offense that I've ever seen.

To answer simply. No.

The right coach will get them back where they were quickly.

If anything it will be good for them, it was obvious this year that they were trying to make the system work with players not fit for it. I think CUM had recruited based on stars more than compatibility with his schemes.

They had that "great talent" this year too ya know, and they went 7-5.

Who knows? With a coaching change there is almost always a year or two hangover.

It's not like the current set up was setting the world on fire... I wouldn't think it would be any further than it wouldn've been with Meyer/Addazio.

They need a running back that weighs more than 180 lbs.

I think they should hire Houston Nutt, he is really good at taking over other people's talent and getting them to perform at 100%. They could then use the next two seasons of BCS bowls to line up who they REALLY want to be their head coach. They better not be greedy though, after those two years his own recruits will start to "shine" and well, it goes down hill from there.

the major issue with changing systems is finding a quarterback. UF has QBs to run both a spread-option system or a passing system. They'll probably have to stop recruiting those 5'8" 150 pound RBs with a non-spread option system, but that's about the only adjustment

I'd give it a week, maybe two.

No. There might be a blip on the screen in 2011—an 8-4 or 9-3 season maybe—but UF will be fine in the long run. Too much talent, plus all the re$ources to hire a heavyweight coach—that's not a recipe for failure.
