They were ruled ineligible immediately and the investigation took a couple of weeks. Whereas Cam was not ruled ineligible immediately and only a day was taken to determine his eligibility. The time frame and actions were completely different from what the NCAA and schools normally take.

This.

Cecil came out and admitted to shopping Cam to Mississippi State, with Cam having no knowledge of his actions.

This statement was released during the regular season.

Auburn waits until after its last game against Alabama, at which point, Auburn ruled Cameron Newton ineligible, and promptly filing with the NCAA to regain his eligibility.

Then, further, the NCAA takes hours, not days, not week... to decide that Cam and Auburn had done nothing wrong and ruled him eligible to play in the SEC Championship game.

Auburn sandbagged, and then called the NCAA's bluff and it worked.
