Deep Elum if you are into the party scene as well.

If the Dallas Stars are in town, that is actually a pretty fun thing to go to.

I went when I lived in Dallas quite often. Most fun live sporting event IMO. Now, I was going during the Stanley Cup playoffs, so the atmosphere was awesome. Not sure what it is like during regular season games.

There is a grown ups go cart track off of I35. I cannot remember the name of the place. They have an open bar though. So that is pretty fun to drink and act like a kid again. At least it was for us.

We always try to stop and eat at a Salt Grass when we are around that area. It is a Texas chain place, but they have pretty good food. I enjoy their steaks.

Grapevine has a Bass Pro Shops and a very big indoor outlet mall. They used to have a Brooks Brothers outlet store there.

Again, not sure if you are looking for shopping ideas or just party ideas.

Deep Ellum is ok. It was rough around 2006-7. It may have cleaned up some since then.

Lower Greenville was cleaner and safer and not any futher from dowtown.

And if you're gay, go to Cedar Springs.

Try Blue Goose Cantina on lower Greenville Ave. Campisi's on Mockingbird. The original Snuffer's is pretty good as well. If you like a great pizza and good wine, Coalvines is damn good.

Northpark is likely the best overall mall-shopping experience in Dallas.
