What is there to defend? If you want to say USC deserved to be in the championship game. Then shouldn't Utah have been in the '08 NC. They did beat Alabama worse than Florida did.

Who the frick did you want them to put in the game? God Damn Hawaii? They were the fricking SECC, and the title was won outright.
