Do you think todays ruling means Camgate is over.
Do you think that Auburn will be in the clear moving forward.
Do you think Newton/s will be in the clear moving forward.

Camgate, not officially over.
AU will not get penalties, but may still have to vacate wins.
Cecil, maybe not, Cam, yes.

it doesn't matter what they think. this thing is not even remotely close to being over unless they find something.

I find it hard to answer your questions with a straight yes/no. I think Auburn will still be under the microscope from the NCAA, but ultimately, nothing will come of it.

I want to think Auburn is in the clear, but I know Auburn has a couple of idiot boosters, and that scares me some. I do believe the institution itself (coaches, AD, etc.) is clean

I think Cam is fine. I think his father should be ashamed of what he almost cost his son.

1. Officially? No. In the absence of any newly discovered evidence, it's effectively over for Auburn.
2. See newly discovered evidence statement above.
3. See #2.
More on #2...Auburn was never implicated, and that is clear by today's ruling. This is, was, and always has been about what happened in Starkville.

I think the key aspect is that the NCAA has looked at all the financial records for the extended Newton family. If anything aroused suspicion, I'm guessing we would have seen a very different statement today.
That means you're probably left with the theory that Auburn paid with a duffle bag full of cash and Cecil hid it away somewhere. So what does the NCAA do at this point, grab a shovel and start digging holes in his back yard? Kidnap Cam, strap him to a chair, inject him with sodium pentathal and force him to confess that he was involved in the plot all along?
I just don't see where any smoking gun (assuming there is one) is going to come from. About the only person who could torpedo Cam right now is Kenny Rogers, and Kenny is claiming he had no involvement with Auburn and money never changed hands with anyone. And keep in mind Kenny is doing his best to blame Cecil for all this, and if there was anything incriminating on Cecil or Cam he would have gleefully spilled it by now, since he is now furious with the Newtons and is trying to paint himself as the victim in this scam.
PS - I think the Kenny Rogers of the world are the real targets of this case. The NCAA is probably more worried/aggravated by all of the "handlers", "runners", aspiring agents and middlemen operating as pimps than they are the occasional corrupt family member or stupid 18 year old.
