Their 2nd SEC title didn't come until 1983. They have 1 SEC title since 1989. It's a good program, dunno if it ranks as big time. If so, then Arkansas does too.

For these recruits, it's big time. They weren't around in 1956. They don't know the history. They just know that they are on TV a lot, and they have a huge stadium.

And yes, not everything was by the book, but I wasn't referring to ncaa rule following ability. I'm talking about how effective he was at getting these kids in the program.

I said nothing about 1956. The fact remains, Auburn has never, in their history had such a class, and they had alot more going for them in the past than what they had to sell in this recruiting class. Again, there were already, immediate recruiting violations in how they conducted themselves. It's not that far a stretch to think there could have been more, considering their recruiting history.

I think that's what everyone else is also talking about, specifically, the last two weeks.

Well yeah, if you don't take obeying the rules into consideration Trooper is one of the best recruiters in college football. The problem is that the reason he is a good recruiter is BECAUSE he breaks every rule in the book on a daily basis. I think the OP was looking for explanations for how Auburn stayed on the up and up and pulled in that recruiting class at the same time.
