I think you can attribute a lot of that success to Trooper. ALso, the fans have a great atmosphere there. And kids had a shot at immediate playing time. Hell, when I went to games there I partied my balls off and had a great time. If I couldn't have gone to LSU, them , Ole Miss, ALabama, and UGA would be the schools I would look at.
And, I credit them for marketing themselves to these kids. We can laugh at the Tiger prowl deal with the limo, but it got their name in papers and message boards. We talked abotu it on the recruiting board here. A lot. Great marketing and strategy (I think mostly due to Trooper regardless of how you feel about him). In fact, it should be the new standard for most programs that had down years with a new coaching staff. VERY impressive to say the least.
I also remember seeing it pouring down rain last year and their student section was dancing to some techno shite. pretty impressive considering a lot of recruits were at that game.
The fans bought into it and if you have the fans, who also happen to be as rabid as LSU/Bama fans, it's easy to pull those kinds of recruits.
It is pretty easy to pull kids away from Arky. Hell, there best players have all been pulled at one point. Even Frazier is leaving and Mallett left too.
Trovon Reed was in a tough place in life. Wanted out of LA.
Suspect? Yes. Hard to believe? No. In fact, everything just happened to fall their way last year. Good for them. Plus, you've got to remember that when you get a few top recruits to "buy" into your program, they help recruit others.
A lot of different factors. Plus, it's a big time program.
I don't put anythign into it. Once Trooper and staff got those kids to buy into what they were selling (everything above + Malhzahn), it was downhill from that point on.

Trooper was banned from recruiting for a month for violations. And rules were enacted because it wasn't on the up and up.

Their 2nd SEC title didn't come until 1983. They have 1 SEC title since 1989. It's a good program, dunno if it ranks as big time. If so, then Arkansas does too.

If that was the case, Baylor, Tulane, New Mexico and Tenn. should of all had top 10 classes.
