Let me ask you this, if you're in McGregor's/his lawyers shoes, why would you even broach the subject? Just leave it at no comment and move on. He's already in deep shite as it is. Why go and lie about more stuff to add on top of it?

Honestly, it may or may not be true, won't know for some time. However, I would think Auburn football would be the least of his worries right now. That they chose to make a statement about that and appear concerned about it, is kinda curious, considering that he is under indictment for other things right now and arraignments are tomorrow.
