Let's make this clear for the Auburn posters on this board. I have a lot of Auburn friends and they are good people. My wife is getting a master's degree from Auburn right now. Auburn itself IS NOT corrupt. I've been to a couple of LSU-Auburn games there and have been treated great. The fans, by and large (every groups has its idiots), do not deserve what is happening to them here.

Bobby Lowder is corrupt.
Milton MacGregor is corrupt.
Pat Dye is corrupt.
Jimmy Rane is corrupt.

Auburn's problem is that a handful of very powerful, very corrupt people have wrested control of the university and use it for themselves. Much of this has gone on behind closed doors or has only surfaced through innuendo and rumor. It is all very hard to believe.

For the average Auburn fan, what is happening is a shame. The university and fanbase are just like the rest of us, for the most part, despite what Bama fans say.

That said, if all this is true, they will all pay for the crimes of a few. Tragic.

This could have been written word for word about Alabama in the mid 90s.

:shudder:

Lowder is a billionaire, its not easy to take down a fat cat who can hire 10 of the best attorneys.

I think the main thing driving Auburn corruption over the last quarter century is just the deep-seated inferiority complex they have with regards to Alabama. You see this with individuals as well. Siblings trying to outdo one another and the drama that results from that. This is sibling rivalry writ large. Little brother trying to keep up with big brother. It makes people, families, corporations and yes, universities do crazy things.

Agreed. That's why I feel so bad for their fans.

She might wanna consider transferring. That degree might not be worth the paper it's written on in a few years.

Lowder - BoT member
Rane - BoT member
Dye - former coach/AD embraced by current staff

75% of that list has or had decision making abilities regarding Auburn athletics. You don't get more corrupt as an institution than that.

but the guys you mentioned are on auburns board of trustees. they are corrupt and their orchestration of football will cause auburn much heart break. how did those guys get back in power? how in the hell did auburn university have anything to do with pat dye? he has been convicted of paying players? and they named the damn stadium after him? auburn is a damn fine educational institution that has been hi-jacked by the talibarn.

Excellent post.

I've been to many Auburn/LSU games on the Plains. Every time, we've been treated great by the Auburn fans. We've been welcomed to several tailgates and they are a great/knowledgeable fanbase. It's too bad that they all can't get together and kick Lowder and Dye out on their asses.

I also have friends that are Auburn Alums and fans of the program. The ones I've spoken to since this thing started are pessimistic that it will all turn out well for their school. I do feel for them, remembering that not all that long ago LSU was rocked by the Lester Earl scandal in basketball. The old standard, "it only takes one bad apple to spoil the whole bunch" is forever true.

OP, no one ever thought that it was the students! Not getting where you are coming from because whenever a university is corrupt, it usually is at the top only. Or you just have a wacko booster trying to get one recruit or a dumb coach acting on his own.

This goes to the heart of corruption at in the federal banking/government/gambling industries.

We will see very soon if Auburn itself has integrity. IF and I repeat IF they know any single item of this to be true, they simply should get rid of ALL the players in question and play out the season after forfeiting the previous wins, or just simply discontinue the sports that htey know have been corrupted.

Two things....have you wife trnsfer before she gets a masters from a community college!

and second....HEY CHARLES BARKLEY! Where's you big fricking mouth now? Bet you are glad your boy Turner Gill isn't trapped in this bullshite!
