At this point Auburn has nothing to lose by playing Newton. They decided to go all in with him when they claimed to find nothing to the allegations over the summer and let him start the first game of the season. From that point on Auburn was all in with Cam. If the NCAA aided by the FBI find out his family was paid, it won't matter that Auburn didn't play him in the last few games of the season. The damage is done.

Why would Auburn bother talking to the NCAA? If they're completely innocent, Chizik can tell the NCAA to leave them alone, they have a game to prepare for. Now, if Chiz is making sure the paper trail is still covered up, then I understand that.
