This is really a shame. Ole Miss alumni are mailing their diplomas back in protest of the new mascot.

I was also told today that five members of The Vaught Society have severed ties. (One must make a minimum commitment of $350,000 to Ole Miss athletics be a member)

There is also talk of erecting a Colonel Reb statue in Oxford. This might not be a bad idea.
The Colonel could be displayed and remembered in a historical context this way.

I honestly do hope this brings some kind of change for y'all. I love making fun of you, but part of me actually feels bad for you. I'd be pretty mad if they pulled this crap on us or tried to put Toonces on our helmets or something.

Why on earth would anyone waste $350,000 on Ole Miss athletics? Why not just flush the money down the toilet? The return on investments are virtually equal.

I think that is a great idea. Maybe the NAACP and Al Sharpton can come down to. also, don't leave out the Kluxers that protested last year, I think they will fit right in.

Ole Miss needs to accept the bear and move on so this doesn't become a bigger issue than it really is. The need to just let the colonel go away.

The chick who sent this e-mail either isn't an alumni or hasn't donated in a long time according to some guys who went through the books over at RCR.

People said they'd cut ties when we got rid of the confederate flags, people said they'd cut ties when they got rid of Col. Reb the first time.
People said they'd cut ties when we got rid of FDWL.

So far, none of that has really hurt us.

If these people don't love Ole Miss then, I would prefer they GTFO.

That's kinda like someone making the statement: "Well, I really disapprove of what's going on, ...so I think I'll just give myself a good arse-whoopin'!"

Oh, this means nothing. I'm sure the spoiled little turds who ushered in these changes will pick up the slack from here on out.....

The new Ole Miss mascot should be a wine glass filled with fart.

What's the big deal? It's not like they just pulled Col Reb yesterday. He's not been around for a few years, right? It sounds like they are upset about the mascot being a Black Bear which is just like the Tide's Elephant, right? That's how I understood it. If there were going to be an uproar shouldn't it have happened back when they originally decided to change mascots years ago?

I can let Colonel Reb go. But if the liberals, damn them to hell, get the either the names 'Rebels' and 'Ole Miss' then I'll follow suit. Also, they'd better not look foul at the statue on the Circle or autographs from the veterans at Ventress Hall.

I would be pissed as well, if I let the PC crowd tell me what my mascot can and can't be.
