Played for the Saints for a while. I hope you're not counting those among his "serviceable" years. He was awful.

Who gives a shite? That was 30 years ago. A "U" consistently produces good players at a position, not 3 in 2 decades.

FWIW, no SEC school can say shite about "now" except UT and maybe OM. However, that is just ONE person from each school. I would say that a "U" school would have a pretty long history. 'Bama has that in those 3 players. I'm guessing that is what Bench McElroy is saying.

If I had to pick a school, I guess I'd take LSU. I really don't think there is one.
Alabama is LB U
Auburn is RB U
Tennessee is DL U
LSU could be QB or WR U.

Woodley was, without a doubt, the worst QB ever to start a Super Bowl (48 career TDs, 63 career INT) and he played like it in Miami's 27-17 loss to Washington. He completed just four of 14 passes for 97 yards -- and 76 of those came on a first-quarter touchdown to Jimmy Cefalo -- and was eventually replaced by Don Strock.

David Woodley was the worst quarterback to start a Super Bowl, with 15 more interceptions than touchdowns in his brief career. Still, nothing is ever as bad as it seems, and Woodley was no exception. If he'd been better, the Dolphins might not have drafted Dan Marino in 1983 -- and think about that for a minute before you start to shred David Woodley. Then take a look at Woodley's play in Super Bowl XVII and start shredding.

His story: Maybe the model for stopgap QBs, Woodley was serviceable but hardly spectacular in his four years with the Dolphins and, later, two more with Pittsburgh. His best full season may have been 1980, and even then he threw more interceptions (17) than touchdowns (14).
You say: "David Woodley was most likely the worst QB to buckle up a chinstrap because he never should have been an NFL QB in the first place," says Tom Daly of Tampa, Fla. "He rarely threw for over 125 yards in a game in his entire career (at least with the Dolphins)."
John Gagliotti of Meadville, Pa., says "Woodley had no career after the Super Bowl year and Marino came in halfway through the next year as the starter. He is by far the worst of the quarterbacks in this list."
And Toby Srebnik of Tallahassee, Fla., says: "David Woodley is Jay Fiedler 20 years ago. Woodley was the bridge between Bob Griese (injured midway through the 1980 NFL season) and Dan Marino's 1983 rookie season. Woodley got the keys to the castle for a few years, and the best thing he did was not get in the way of Miami's ferocious Killer B's defense in 1982 on the way to the Super Bowl. He performed so poorly in Super Bowl XVII that Don Strock replaced him for most of the second half, and I don't even think the Dolphins completed a second-half pass against Washington that day. Woodley was eventually traded to Pittsburgh in 1985 and disappeared from football shortly thereafter."

Son, don't you have a test to study for? My god. You stumped the swamy on that one. Poor woodley at least he did make it to the superbowl. I could google up some shite like you did, on some of the bama names up there, but i really don't give a shite about looking up info on a former gump qb. Why don't you google up some Rohan Davey against Bama?

Charlie Conerly definitely needs to be in this list, he's in the college football hall of fame. Along with Jake Gibbs, John Fourcade, Eagle Day, ect. We've had some pretty good quarterbacks

Archie is still one of my all time favorite players. Hell of a baseball player also. Without doubt i think he was more talented that both of his sons. He could do it all. No one could throw to their right while running left like archie. I remember how he beat us 2 years straight with his scrambling ability. His senior year he did not fare too well against us with the cast on his arm. I think LSU, Ole Miss, Bama, Florida would prolly be neck and neck on QB U.

I wish I had the pleasure of watching him like you did. I agree that he is more talented than his sons, the things he did were unprecendented for his time. playing with is arm in a sling was pretty gritty, it's a shame that we were skulldrug so bad or it would have been the stuff of legends
