Of course the homer in me wants to think Petrino is near the top but I hold him somewhat responsible for our loss vs. bama. I know he coached a less talented team to a near victory, but I cant escape the lack of a running game. We CANNOT turn the corner without it...so here goes

1. Saban......obvious
2. Meyer......Is he ranked so high because of past success? We find out Saturday
3. Chiz.......I laughed at this hire initially...not so much now
4. Miles.....IF he would hire an OC that could develop a QB he would be ranked higher (but LSU was my pick to win the West this year)
5. Petrino...want to put him higher, but this ain't the Big East (BUT, no one outside of Ark. understands how little he had to work with when he arrived here and just how far he has come)
6. Dooley....Not sure why, but I really think he is a good one
7. Richt...things aren't looking good, but I think Bobo is a BIG part of his problems
8. Nutt....good god, i have been dealing with this man for half my life and still can't figure him out
9. Phillips....See #6
10. Spurrier...think he has lost it (pulling his starter on the last drive only reinforces my thoughts)
11. Mullen, could very easily be as high as 6-7, just haven't seen enough to convince me yet
12. Caldwell...funny guy but out of his league

Miles could be so much better if he would get out of his own way. LSU has a killer defense and special teams. Recruiting is amazing. This is his 6th year and there is no talent drop off.

But, the OC and QB is atrocious. That will be his undoing and it is such a waste. If LSU had even decent QB play, November 6th against Alabama in Tiger Stadium would be the date everyone was penciling as deciding the SEC. As it is, LSU fans are hoping we finish better than 8-4. Beyond frustrating.

Oh yeah, he is also terrible at clock management. But, objectively, he has done about 2/3 of his job really well. It is the other third that will be his undoing.

I don't even know where to start with this list. You must be watching a totally different 4 games than I have on a couple of guys...

Miles and Chizik are too high. Mullen is a little too low. Otherwise, I pretty much agree.

Also,

A WAC reject is just who we needed. He'll be the biggest failure of them all. I've fricking hated this hick since the day we hired him.

The way he's recruiting he must not realize he's not in Ruston anymore. I swear to God the love he gets on this board from some people drives me crazy. I hate his fricking guts and would dance in the streets if he was fired tomorrow.

A loss on Saturday to the heavily favored number 1 team in American on the road with the current Heisman winner, the best coach in CFB and with the best OL and WR and 2nd best RB in the game would change your mind???

You really think that Houston Nutt has done a better coaching job than Dan Mullen in losing to D-1AA Jacksonville State and Vandy at home???? State lost to number 10 Auburn at home by 3 and AT Tiger Stadium AT NIGHT to number 12 LSU. Honestly what do you expect of Mullen? Him to be 4-0 and have blown out LSU and Auburn

This list is full of FAIL!

Dooley has accomplished nothing. Richt and Nutt and Spurrier have all won at least an SEC division championship. Spurrier has won nat champ games. PLURAL.

Your vote for Dooley parallels women voting for handsome candidates for high office.

Spurrier has been pulling QB's for years. Nothing new here.

Because his starter fumbled twice and he was worried about him hurting himself constantly lowering his head. (HBC explained his decision in an article on GoGamecocks but it's a pay site so no link). His decision was just fine, IMO. FWIW, Shaw played fairly well that last drive.

I'd have to disagree, I'll put SOS at 5-6 at this point. He's WAY better than 10th.

Mullen at 11 is pretty terrible IMO. If you are gonna rank the coaches, rank them by who you would want to run your program.

1. Saban is obviously first
2. After him, in no particular order, Meyer, Mullen, Spurrier,
3. Petrino, Chiz
4. Dooley, Richt, Phillips
5. Nutt, Caldwell, Miles
