Sounds like that's a pretty good situation to be in. I realize that the past two seasons have left Tiger fans with a serious need for some kind/any kind of recognition, but I wouldn't be overly concerned with pre-season polls.

we're really not that concerned with recognition. improving the results on the field and the methods of the coaching staff would have a much bigger impact on the psyche of Tiger fans than what the media and other fan bases are saying about LSU.

You're right. I actually like being ranked #16 and being picked 4th in the West with this type of talent on both sides of the ball. Talent-wise, we are right behind Alabama, if not equal to them (again, coaching is the difference), but being picked 4th might light a fire under a very talented team. Even though Arkansas and Ole Miss always give LSU all we can handle, those two programs are not consistently on par with LSU. They have been giving us fits for years because they leave everything on the field when they play LSU, as they should.

I'm more talking about the perception that fans have as we lead up to the season. LSU went 9-4 last year and finished 3rd in the SEC losing in the last minute in 2 games and giving Alabama and Florida very close games and people here act like we have no shot in 2010. I'm just making the case that LSU is still a team to be reckoned with.
