Got this email from a friend (SMU alumni) today:

I got some pretty good intel this morning. I went to a breakfast that June Jones was speaking at and he started discussing the conference realignments. He was pretty certain that there was going to be a pretty big shakeup this summer with Nebraska and Missouri most likely leaving for the Big 10.

He's going down to Austin this week to meet with Big 12 officials in order to position SMU for one of the vacant spots if NU and/or Mizzou leave. He mentioned TCU as probably the other likely school to fill a vacancy. He also said he wouldn't be surprised if Texas and Texas A&M left for the SEC. He said the BCS is pushing to make four power conferences (I assume SEC, Big Ten, Pac Ten and ACC).

Proposals will be made to schools over the next three weeks and he said we should know where everyone is going by July 1st.

What do yall think about having 4 power conferences?

If Nebraska and Mizzou both go to the Big 10, what other team joins that conference to make an even number?

My question is if/when all these conference expansions occur, will the conferences change their names so that they actually correlate with the number of teams in said conference? I know it sounds trivial but it kinda pisses me off....for some reason

Having 4 power conferences would never work anyways purely because of scheduling. Plus i doubt the BigXII/Big East officials/administrators would allow their conferences to just dissolve like that...
