I think it is much closer than you percieve it to be. Payton gained a ton of notoriety by winning the SB, but Saban has been on the scene much longer. His scowling face has been on the cover of multiple Sports Illustrated's, as well as numerous other magazines including Forbes. He is also one of the most recognized figures in college football. His celebrity has been far greater to Sean Payton prior to the SB, and the focus on the Saints win was more on the players and the city than it was on Sean Payton. Also, I was in Seaside, FL last summer sitting at a packed wine bar right next to Sean Payton and no one in the place knew who he was. Saban would have stood out like a turd in a punch bowl.

Not shocking from you either NOLA. Y'all really do think EVERYONE in the world gives a shite about Bama. Let me throw another name out there: Bill Belichick. He's been on the scene longer and has 3 Super Bowl rings. Who do you think is better known nationally?

Hands down Bellicheck. Comparing him to Payton is ridiculous. All I am saying is that clearly very few people nationally knew who Sean Payton was prior to the SB victory. Whereas anyone who has followed college football at all over the past decade or so is likely to not only know who Saban is but probably has an opinion about him.

Incidently this has nothing to do with Alabama, but rather Nick Saban's personel notoriety. I am sure you are aware that Saban succeded at a few mid-tier jobs before he created your personal nightmare in Tuscaloosa.
