Chizik will get Auburn back into a program that is Top 25 annually, competitive in the SEC and to a good bowl game each year. Will that ever be propelled into a BCSNCG? Only time will tell.

Our long record of success has never seemed to help AU in the past has it?

I believe much of Bama's fast rise to a NC this year was based on several things. 1) Auburn's total collaspse with Tuberville gave Bama no instate competitioin. 2) Bama's motivation to not lose to Florida again in the SEC Title Game and not lose the Bowl/NC game. 3) The SEC having a down year. 4) Meyer's obvious health problems in the SEC Title Game causing Florida to play a flat game.

So it you combine those four items above and then Colt McCoy going out in the first series on a freak injury it spelled a perfect storm for Saban to win his 2nd NC. Now with all this behind us Auburn is regularly beating Bama with in state recruits. Now the real game is on. Saban always said LSU was the perfect job with no instate competition for recruits. Now he has to deal with Auburn on his butt everyday. Should be fun to watch.

Yep, if BAMA's success helped auburn then they would at least be in double digits in SEC Championships.

Compared to BAMA, auburn is a second tier program and I don't expect that to change.

But bama fans feel this way about everyone, so I suppose we're in good company.

I don't feel that way about Notre Dame, Oklahoma, USC, Texas, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, etc. and in recent history Florida.

There are some programs that have proved over the course of history that they will rise to the top.

There are a lot more programs that never or rarely achieve greatness.

Did it help Notre Dame that they finish in the top of the recruiting rankings every year?

This is the most accurate synopsis of the situation that has ever been posted on this website.

It absolutely was a perfect storm for bammer but the skies have cleared for Auburn and things are getting back to a post-Bear Bryant normal now......

Notre Dame is the exception that proves the rule: better players = better on-the-field results....

If that's the case, Auburn would have had a lot more national success over the years.

So you're still saying that Bama is only doing well because everyone else is down?

I've never seen Auburn people more united than this.....before, there was a lot of in-fighting but everybody is 100% on the same page of music right now and thrilled with Chizik's plan.

Maybe for the first time since the 50s we'll see what a united Auburn can do.....you boys in west alabama better batten down the hatches, it's going to be bumpy ride.....

I'd argue a NC with 2 losses to unranked teams is more of a down year.
