No im not assuming too much...

My logic follows that of what the Big Ten is currently looking to do. The only difference is that the Big Ten has its own network.

But if the Big 12 were to implode, opening up the opportunity of the two largest schools in Texas, with all of their money and media markets, would immediately look attractive to the SEC cause of the region, what the schools offer(competitiveness) and how the schools will immediately benefit from more $ from more lucrative tv contracts.
