From what I have seen with little Nicky, he could give a rat's arse about "what he means" to Bama, LSU, MSU, whatever. He cares about "The Process." And money. Period.
I don't think he cares about the legacy of Bear Bryant, Ken Stabler, the 35 MNC's that Bama claims, Billy Cannon's Halloween run, the "mystique" of Tiger Stadium, or the MSU rivalry with Michigan.
He doesn't care to gladhand with the boosters and Paul Bryant, Jr. Screw rounds of golf with sponsors, former players, or ADs and BoS members (however, he did come to the funeral of LSU Booster Richard Gill, which actually surprised me).
He doesn't really care for the fans either--LSU, Bama, or MSU. At best, he is ambiguous about the fans.
He cares about football. He cares about his family (regardless of what we rantards may say ). He cares about his players.
Back to the OP's statement, I don't think Nick will ever understand what he has done for the Gump Nation. He'll never understand what it means to be a fan of football, because it's his job.

This is Nick Saban. For that reason, I believe he will go after his only failure in coaching and back to the NFL at some point.
