Yeah, I think he "gets" that many fans of SEC teams (including LSU, and Bama) are unhealthily obsessed w/ him and the football team, and would turn on him on a dime if he has a bad season (just ask Bill Curry.)

Yes, having a needy/stalker type girlfriend/boyfriend sounds like a blast, for a guy like Nick

No he didn't, and it will be interesting to see if Bama can lean on its defense, and continue with just a pounding running game. Is Ingram fine after that Texas game, he looked in severe pain

What he means to Alabama fans. I wonder if he's so "tunnel-visioned" and workaholic that it goes over his head.

It would not surprise most Alabama fans to see Saban walk across Guntersville lake.

Way to go Nick. Well done.

He does get it. It doesn't mean he cares about it. In fact he probably thinks that overzealous god-worship from the fans makes his job harder to do.

To Saban, the love and legacy are the residual results of the "process".

CS "got" it as soon as he walked into the A-Day game and saw a completely filled stadium.
No doubt, he himself brings it up every time someone asked him about Alabama and him being the Head coach.

He'll be in Title Town for a long time

Well, I'm an Alabama fan, but it's not like I worship Saban or anything. He's a damn good coach who takes his job seriously, and I like it.

But really, I'm not going to go ga-ga over some other dude (like some giddy teenage girl would do), thinking he's somehow larger than life. To hell with that!

But yeah, I'm sure Saban gets the fact that there are plenty of sad, pathetic creatures out there who would gladly eat the corn out of his shite if given an opportunity.

Professionals, be they coach or lawyer or doctor or CPA, CEO, etc., generally are in their roles because they are good at what they do and love doing it most of the time. The minority are driven by what people think of them; they are driven by the desire to succeed, to perform in their profession in the best way that they can for the internal satisfaction and, for some, because they believe they are serving a greater good and a Higher Power in the process.

For the majority, who tend to be OCD perfectionists like Saban is, acclaim from people who have no clue about what it takes to achieve success tends to not have a great deal of meaning, other than the personal gratitude of those most intimately affected by their success. In fact the random acclaim by those who don't understand add to the pressure to always be perfect because the professional knows those are the same people who will turn on them when they have a failure.

Saban is self-protective, and in light of his fan base, at LSU or Alabama, he is wise.
