We have terrible leadership at City Hall. It makes my blood boil that Jackson did not try get the baseball stadium downtown.
Or is it a good thing that the nice stadium is not anywhere near southwest jackson?

I work downtown and would love to be able to hit the ballpark after work.
Memphis used the baseball park to spur the cleanup of the Beale St. area. I was hoping something like that would happen here.

They should be getting rid of about 10 bowls rather than adding them. A bowl game in Jackson in December would be an abject failure. The city council would probably call it something like the WorldCom Bowl or something. Horrible idea.

A new stadium could have revitalized the downtown area. I hear they want to rebuild a new indoor area there from what I hear. Makes sense seeing that Tupelo, Southaven, and Biloxi are getting most of the concerts in the state.

Live music and concerts? We don't have those here.

I wish they would level the coliseum and put it there while redoing the whole fairgrounds area. I can't imagine what a visitor driving from the interstate to downtown past the fairgrounds on pearl street must think.

I actually went to Jackson recently to visit a buddy of mine and we went to a place downtown on Farrish St. Called F. Jones Corner. They had really good blues music and lots of hot chicks there, and stayed open til 4AM.
On a negative note the place it was located was in such a bad area I felt uncomfortable walking to my friends car when we left and I was DRUNK.

teams don't even want to travel to Birmingham or Shreveport for a bowl game, let alone anywhere in Pississippi.

I saw Dickey Betts this year and it was incredible. But they have it in the middle of the summer in downtown Jackson outdoors. HOT!

It was on of the hottest most humid stillest nights of the year. I downed about 7 or 8 fence-posts of Budweiser and stood under a water sprayer to stay cool.

I can foresee Bham, Jackson, and Shreveport fighting it out for the next BCS bowl game slot.
