I thought he got some helmet. It didn't appear to be intentional though. He was just trying to dislodge the ball.

I think the refs err on the side of safety.

I agree with this. The hit looked nasty at game speed, and apparently the rule calls for a penalty regardless of intent. I wouldn't call Jones a dirty player over this though

Hogs basketball program is what first came to mind when I read that. At my olding age my mind tends to wander from the main topics.

I agree that it looked to be helmet to helmet at game speed, but after seeing the replay, I don't think it was. But that kind of play isn't reviewable I don't think. Props to Adams for getting back in there.

You're not giving your team enough credit. A few less dropped passes and a few more passes with some touch on them during the season and you guys could have 2-3 more wins.

Thanks, dude.

I'll be the first to admit Mallett was less than spectacular on the road his first go around. A lot of that is just immaturity, but he IS going against the best defenses in the country. Hopefully, with the schedule getting much easier next year, he'll settle down in those big games because they'll be at home.

I have no fault at all with the Chad Jones plays. I would give my left nut and half of the shaft to have a player like him roaming the Arkansas secondary. Whether it was a penalty or not, I have no idea. I do know someone posted the rules the other day about defenseless players and hits above the shoulder...and this seemed to fit. Regardless, LSU won.

As for Joe Adams...I think the kid deserves some major props for his fearlessness. Don't forget, this is the same guy who had a stroke a few weeks ago. A stroke. At 19. Some of the other Arkansas receivers could learn a thing or two from him. Took some major toughness to get up from either one of those hits, much less get back on the field so soon and catch a huge TD.

Looks like helmet to shoulder to me and he led with the shoulder. Ticky tack call IMO with the game of the line. My problem was the 20 second delay before the LINE judge threw the flag from the LOS while the back judge in front of the collision did nothing.

Was that before or after Adams got up and Jones was still crawling around on his knees?

After he made Adams drop the ball for a TD like a little bitch.

Is that the same Joe Adams that caught a TD just a few plays later or was that a different player?

Rumor is he was hit in the nuts. If it was anything close to a concussion, they wouldn't have let him go back in

That was a pretty long discussion about nuts.

That "little bitch" came back this season after a series of strokes. Pretty non-bitchy if you ask me.

Have you done anything that "non-bitchy" lately? Hmm..

ETA: Oh, and like another poster said, he made the supposed game winning touchdown three plays later. Chad Jones was still on the sideline like a "little bitch".

Apparently you need to put some glasses on. If you review that play in slow mo you will definitely see that he did NOT lead with the helement. It was a clean all football hit.

The "supposed game winner" is a good one.

It looked clean to me but I was okay with the call itself. What really bothered me though is that they waited until it was obvious that neither player was getting up quickly to call it helmet to helmet. Almost as if they figured no one could get hurt like that unless there had been a helmet to helmet hit and so they called the penalty without being sure of anything. That's one of those penalties that I think warrants being extra sure when it is that late in the game and there is a lot riding on the call.

If we even had a Sunbelt/C-USA defense, it would have been.. Plenty thought that would be the game-winner, though...

Clean hit. Wasn't aimed at the head and he didn't use the helmet as a weapon. I'm shocked both of them came back in

You got your call when Ridley was ruled out of bounds when he wasn't on your last drive with time running out.
