All the LSU folks need to go to Wintzell's in Northport just across the river. It is as close to the type of food you'll like as you'll find here. Gumbo is good and lots of seafood on the menu. Chuck's is a distant second.

I will 2nd this. It's right across the bridge, less than 2 miles from campus.
The gumbo is good, but it's nothing like what y'all come with. There's a huge seafood platter that is very, very good.
Also, it's a big, roomy place and the wait isn't very bad on Friday nights.
